The Museum is more than happy to host field trips, send out History-In-A-Box to classrooms around the region, provide resources for teachers, and much more! Read and click the links below to see all education opportunities we offer.

School Tours

Museum staff in conjunction with the Museum’s volunteer education committee of retired educators can create a tour tailored to the classroom/grade-level curriculum or offer a general tour of Swannanoa Valley history through the museum galleries. Please call us at (828) 669-9566 or email svmvolunteer@gmail.com to schedule a tour.

History-In-A-Box

These boxes can travel to your classroom at no cost. Each box contains activities and materials tailored to meet North Carolina’s educational standards for each grade level. Please call us at (828) 669-9566 or email svmvolunteer@gmail.com to check out a box.

Do you have an idea for a box related to local or regional history that you’d like to use in your classroom? If so, let us know! Our education committee would love to help.
