Valley History Explorer Hike #3: Swannanoa (Davidson Grave/Alexander Farm)

On this hike, hikers will see the grave of the first non-native settler west of the Blue Ridge – Samuel Davidson (located on private property), who was killed shortly after his arrival in 1784 and buried at the top of Jones Mountain where he was shot. Led by Davidson descendant, Bill Alexander, and we will also explore the ruins of Alexander Farm, a boarding house, at the foot of Jones Mountain.
Difficulty: Moderate, 1.5 miles
