Canceled: The Haunted Valley Rally Driving Tour

October 23, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Swannanoa Valley Museum’s Haunted Valley Rally Driving Tour, scheduled to take place October 23rd and 24th has been canceled. While we have received support and interest for the tour, we have not gained enough ticket sales to make the event viable for the many volunteers who commit a great deal of time and energy to make the event a success. We look forward to hosting this event next year with all of the drama, costumery and storytelling that have made SVM’s haunted house tours so popular in the past. Those who have already registered will be contacted directly concerning their credits and refunds.

Take a driving tour through the myths and legends of the Swannanoa Valley. This approximately two hour tour will take you to some of the most haunted, historical and mythological places in the Valley. Learn about the ghosts who haunt the windows of Black Mountain homes, the mystery skeleton of the McKoy Building, the Spanish Flu pandemic and much much more. Small car caravans will follow the lead car to each stop on the tour to see a ghostly scene from the past unfold before them. The drive will be accompanied by an audio tour, downloadable as an app for smartphones.

Taking place the evenings of Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th. Tours starting at 5:30pm, 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, 7:30pm, and 8:00pm. Attendees will drive their own cars.

Cost: $125 per vehicle for museum members, $150 per vehicle for non-members
Roads can accommodate minivans and SUVs. As many people as wished may ride in registered vehicles. It is possible for vans and charter buses to attend the tours. Please contact museum staff at 828-660-9566 to inquire about scheduling and pricing.

COVID Policy: By virtue of being a driving tour, this event is naturally socially distanced. Attendees will have opportunities to use bathroom facilities during the tour, and a few options to get out and walk cemetery grounds will be given at different points in the tour. It is at those times that attendees are expected to wear face masks and practice social distancing. Driver leaders and museum representatives will either wear masks or practice social distancing.  If any attendees do not plan to wear masks due to health reasons, please let museum staff know ahead of time by emailing svmvolunteer@gmail.com.
