The Museum’s Hiking Series
Swannanoa Rim Explorer Series – The Swannanoa Rim encompasses the ridgelines of the upper Swannanoa Valley that surround Black Mountain. This exclusive program offers experienced hikers the opportunity to explore remote and little traveled territory while learning about the history, geography, hydrology, and environment of the Swannanoa Valley. The eleven hikes of the series take place Saturdays from February through December and depart from Black Mountain at 8:00 a.m.
Valley History Explorer Hiking Series – The Valley History Explorer Series consists of 8 hikes that explore the past of the communities that shape the Swannanoa Valley. This series introduces the significant history of the region to visitors and residents of the Swannanoa Valley through moderate, approximately 3-mile hikes to historic locations. The hikes occur on Saturday in March through October and depart from Black Mountain at 9:00 a.m. Each hike costs $25 for members of the Museum and $35 for nonmembers. The entire series can be purchased for $175 for members. Nonmembers may sign up for a membership and the series for $205.
